From showing the next generation about the exciting problems engineers face to bettering the community we are a part of, outreach is a key value of SWE. We are always working to advance the people around us.
WOW! That's Engineering
WOW! That's Engineering is an event hosted in the fall for middle school students. Students are invited to engage in hands-on activities that involve teamwork and creativity to introduce the creative, innovative, and forward-thinking sides of engineering. The activities are meant to build self-confidence and critical thinking skills as the middle schoolers go through their day at MSU.
Day with SWE
An event hosted for admitted high school senior students looking to study engineering at MSU. The event allows these future engineers to get a glimpse into engineering and spend time learning from SWE members. It is typically an all-day occasion with fun student-led activities, snacks, and valuable insights into what it is like to be an engineering student.
Introduce a Girl to Engineering
An event hosted for admitted high school senior students looking to study engineering at MSU. STEM Academy
STEM Academy is a opportunity to introduce elementary school classes to areas of STEM through hands-on activities. Multiple times a year SWE representatives will partner with local elementary schools to bring an experiment to their classrooms. The purpose of these events is to provide early exposure of engineering and science principals to the next generation.
Community Service
SWE participates in various acts of community service like making and sending cards for various different organizations, raising money for charity, and participating every year in Relay for Life - a walk for a cancer charity.
